Forming the Scholar

FORMING THE SCHOLAR

"How much better to get wisdom than gold! To get understanding is preferable to silver."

-Proverbs 16:16

"Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show his works by a good life in the humility that comes from wisdom.”

-James 3:13

We are so very proud of our graduates and have every confidence that each young person is distinguished in his or her ability to excel at the high school level.  Teachers at Bishop Luers High School speak very highly of our students' readiness academically, personally, and in the formation of their Faith.

Reason and Wisdom ~ These gifts God gave to His people.  Information alone is not sufficient for the person to be of right and good service in the world.  HOW one uses his knowledge should cooperate with formation in values in light of the Catholic Faith.

This is formation of the whole child - to guide the student in learning what his talents, gifts, and abilities are, and then learn how to apply them in light of God's plan - in light of the Catholic Faith.

We maintain high expectations and a loving, safe, and disciplined environment. Our small school size allows for very personal attention and support.

TECHNOLOGY IN THE CLASSROOM

We use various tools and resources for a varied student experience. We all know that technology is very important these days, and it's everywhere! However, we still believe in teaching how to read and write cursive, and to work on neatness and legibility. Handwriting is an important fine-motor and life skill!

Secondly, because of today's technology-driven environment, we do provide many experiences in all grades through iPads, student Chromebooks, and classroom technology. As students get into late elementary and Jr. High, they must learn how to be good consumers of the world of information available to them. We teach the use of technology in light of good judgement, responsibility, and learning to be prudent and wise digital citizens.

We do not send any devices home with students. All devices remain in the building, and the work is done on them during school hours.

E-Learning will be utilized as needed or on occasion.  Internet access from home will be needed.
